All activities

You don’t need a multi-day tour to explore the desert with us. If you’re already staying in Merzouga or Hassi Labied, we run excursions of a few hours: a half or full day by 4x4 around the area, 1 to 3 hours on a quad, a buggy ride on the dunes or an hour and a half by camel at sunset. You can combine them on the same day.

How our private tours work

From your first message to the night in the dunes: this is how a private tour with us works.

  1. You get in touch

    On WhatsApp or by email: your dates, how many of you there are, which city you’re starting from and where you’d like to finish. If you have something special in mind, tell us that too.

  2. We suggest an itinerary

    We reply with the route day by day and the price, with no obligation. Because it’s a private tour, it can be changed: add a stop, drop a night or finish in a different city.

  3. We pick you up

    On the first day we collect you from your accommodation. From then on, the vehicle and the driver are for your group only.

  4. The trip, at your pace

    We stop wherever you like, for as long as you like. The driver speaks several languages, and we can arrange Italian on request.

  5. The night in the desert

    You reach the Erg Chebbi dunes in time for sunset. The camel is optional: if you’d rather not ride, the transfer to the camp can be done by 4x4 too.

3 days

With 3 days, the trip from Marrakech is well balanced: you sleep halfway and have time to see Ait Ben Haddou and the Todra Gorge. From Fes, there’s a full day in the desert. It’s the minimum: we don’t run 2-day tours, as they would mean up to 12 hours in the car each day.

4 or 5 days

With 4 or 5 days there’s time to explore the area around Merzouga by 4x4, or to travel from Marrakech to Fes — or the other way round — via the dunes.

A week or more

With a week or more, the circuits from Casablanca and Tangier add the imperial cities and Chefchaouen.

The destination

Merzouga and Erg Chebbi

Merzouga is the village that gives access to Erg Chebbi, a Saharan sea of dunes, in the south-east of the country near the Algerian border. There’s far more than sand around it: the Gnawa village of Khamlia, nomad families who still live in tents, the old mines of Mfis and, when it rains in winter, the lake of Dayet Srij.

On the way, the Ziz Valley is a canyon of palm trees; Erfoud is the town of fossils; and Rissani, about 35 kilometres away, has one of the great souks of southern Morocco.

Are the tours private?

Yes. All our tours are private: the vehicle and the driver are for your group only.

Can I do the tour without riding a camel?

Yes. The camel ride is optional, and we can do the whole trip by 4x4, including the transfer to the camp.

How many days do I need for the desert?

From Marrakech and from Fes, at least 3 days: we don’t run 2-day tours, as they would mean up to 12 hours in the car each day. If you’re already in Merzouga, a half-day excursion by 4x4 or quad is enough to see the essentials.

Is there an Italian-speaking guide?

Yes, on request and subject to availability. Just ask when you book.

What do the tours include?

The private vehicle with a driver, pickup from your accommodation, accommodation with breakfast and dinner at the desert camp (on request on the 4x4 expedition). Our proposal details what’s included each day.

When is the best time to visit the Merzouga desert?

You can go all year round. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant; in summer activities take place early or at sunset, and in winter the nights are cold.

Do you run excursions if I’m already in Merzouga?

Yes: 4x4, quad, buggy and camel, from a few hours to a full day, plus horse rides depending on the season.
